Balitaktakang Kabayan with Barbatiano Murading

On September 14, 2010, PolSci Group Two, comprised of four Political Science freshies, presented their report, a requirement for Political Science 11 class.

The whole concept went through a number of adjustments. The first idea was to present the topics Representation, Elections and Voting, Parties and Party Systems, and Groups, Interests, and Movements in the conventional way of creating Powerpoint presentations. Yet the group thought it would be boring; so they thought of whipping up something different, like a compilation of videos. However, Erol Miranda, brilliant as he is, thought Why not make it somewhat like a panel discussion? From that idea alone came Balitaktakang Kabayan, an untelevised program hosted by Barbatiano Murading (Erol Miranda). The set of the particular episode presented in this site was visited by “experts” like Kerry Miguel (Michael Eusebio), Klein Palmera (Anj Rosal), and Margie Paredes (Heather Padua). Michael Eusebio took care of presenting Representation in the conventional way. However, it was not tedious because he was able to explain the topic thoroughly, which left the audience in awe. Anj Rosal prepared a short video on Elections and Voting that explained pretty much what ordinary people do not, but need to know about elections. In one segment of the show, Erol Miranda got to interview Heather Padua about Parties and Party Systems. It is a very interesting conversation and the details are posted below. The segment entitled, “Survey Says” took the time to explain what Groups, Interests, and Movements are and cleared out the differences among the topics. The audience was accommodated when the last segment, “Itext mo kay Barbatiano” was started. It is a text portion wherein people can text in their questions or doubts or comments and the host, together with the guests tried to answer.

In the end, the month-long preparation proved to be worth it as the group felt it was a job well done.
